 A U.S. citizen fugitive, who was located in Armenia, has been extradited to the United States, U.S. embassy said.

U.S. and Armenian law enforcement authorities and prosecutors coordinated the capture and return of the U.S. national who was arrested by Armenian law enforcement personnel in Yerevan in December 2017 based on an Interpol Red Notice.

The individual was previously charged in the United States for the alleged sexual abuse of a minor. 

President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan on Monday visited Yerablur Military Pantheon on the birth anniversary of National Hero of Armenia and Hero of Artsakh, the late Vazgen Sargsyan.

The President, accompanied by the top leadership of Armenia, laid a wreath to the tomb of the slain Prime Minister and Supreme Commander and paid tribute to him. Serzh Sargsyan placed flowers in memory of the Armenians who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the homeland.

A large fire occurred early Saturday morning in an underpass in downtown capital city Yerevan.

The Emergency Situations Ministry said that even though an investigation is underway to determine the cause of this fire, preliminary information suggests that the homeless had burned the household waste at this underpass, and this had caused the fire. The fire was extinguished at 6:18am.

A new Yerevan-Gyumri-Yerevan electric passenger train has been launched.

Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, headed to on board the new train on Saturday. The train will operate from Fridays to Sundays as an express train, and the duration of the ride will be 1 hour and 59 minutes.

The man charged with the murder of the Armenian psychic has been sentenced to 20 years in jail.
