NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Make-A-Wish Nebraska held its Pot O’Wishes fundraiser in downtown North Platte Thursday.

The annual event raises money and brings hope to local kids by donating and bidding on auction items.

This year’s event at Venue 304 attracted more than 100 people and raised $71,000, which will help grant more wishes to children who are battling critical illnesses.

“Thank you to everyone who came to Pot O’ Wishes and showed our wish kids that this wonderful community supports them,” said Courtney Hughbanks, Development Director for Greater Nebraska at Make-A-Wish Nebraska. “Granting a wish is more than just a moment. It gives hope and emotional strength for a lifetime. We appreciate your support of our mission and helping local wish kids feel the joy and hope of a wish come true!”

Since 1983, the non-profit organization has granted more than 3,200 wishes across the state.

On average, around 120 wishes are granted each year.
